The BootBay eZine!

Second Edition Feb 24th '06

Welcome to our second edition of the BootZine we have had a very productive month since the last issue.

BOOTERS UPDATE

We are still welcoming new Pitch Holders and we are really pleased with the BootBay New Way, we are still coming up with new ideas which are progressively being added. We are also delighted to add some new ideas have been suggested by you, our Booters, which is great as this shows real involvement and we do try to implement the suggestions as soon as we can.

We have added new categories as well which have proved popular - always contact us if you see that there is a gap that could be filled!

We have been in demand of a sellers search - which we do have, this is already something that we do but is a part of the Membership Package.

Please go to the BootBay Membership link on the HomePage for your information, from there you will be able to choose your membership and join BootBay. There are no catches what you see is what you pay; there are no other commitments on top of the monthly fees – only if you want to pay an extra pound (for extra pitches) for a week as a Casual Booter and a Silver Booter.

BOOTBAY FORUM

This is proving to be a huge success and thank you to those that have joined us recently – it is a nice friendly place to be and many of our BOOTERS are having a great time chatting Also there is a lot of help for Newbies as well, there is no point in struggling when someone somewhere can help you. You can gain a lot of information from the forum as everyone is learning together! There is also a BootBay Tips area which has been formed by The Moderators (or the Greenies as they are known) This is a very helpful area as you will find tips from Postage to Uploading photos, all tried and tested by Booters!

Tuesday the 21st February saw our very first Quiz night which was a huge success - and everyone that took part had a great time! We have our first Quiz Champ - oneinthemorning - has won a £10 BootBay voucher to spend on the site - which as you know we are very obliging here and would like to offer my services, as a personal shopper! Also Congrats go to Jenchinn who was our runner-up and has received her very own packet of HOBNOBS. I would like to thank BootBay Bob forthe prizes.

If you would like to try your Brain at the Fastest Finger First Quiz please come along to the Forum to put your name on the Quiz Night Entry Thread to be held on the 21st March!

Also I am sure those of you that took part will agree that TowaTessa is a super Quizmaster and had some great questions, we would like to thank her for her hard work.

Please come along to the Forum where we are now gaining more members - some of whom are keeping rather quiet don't be shy as we love welcoming "newbies" and we welcome your input - after all it is a forum for everyone to enjoy and join in. The Forum is also open to younger members as well - you have to be over 13 to join so maybe you have a teenager longing to post on a forum - there are plenty of topics that they can join in from Music - Films!

*For your information - Avatars cannot be uploaded or linked from other sites. Please note, you do have to register for the forum separately it is not linked directly to this site you can access the forum on the HomePage and on Pitches*

CAR STICKERS

Don't forget if you want a car sticker (or 2) then please email stickers@bootbay.co.uk and enter your name and address to have the stickers sent to.  We have now decided that we will be announcing the winner of the car stickers through a prize draw and will be announced here on the BootZine - we have so many people from many different parts of the Country and Europe that we cannot possibly be everywhere to "spot" the stickers! This seems to be the ideal answer!

We have drawn a name and the winner of the March Car Sticker Draw is:

Jackie Wills  - Congratulations Jackie you have won a £5 voucher from BootBay.

Please contact pam@bootbay.co.uk.

GENERAL BOOTY

Bootyquette!

A few things to consider when you have sold from your pitch - please acknowledge your sale by emailing your buyer - perhaps with a total cost to the buyer and let them know you will send out the item once payment received - this of course is general courtesy! if you know you are going to be away during the 28 day pitch hire - perhaps add a message in the box stating when you will be back for business - this could save a lot of frayed tempers when people do not hear back.  Please remember to check your junk/spam folders - even if you have BootBay or Paypal in your contacts, some do still go astray. If you are having problems with contacting please email BootBay as we are more than happy to help. Remember if you receive an email via BootBay either 'reply all' or cut and paste the email address.

When you buy something please make sure you know the total cost to you - also pay promptly with your chosen method, ask the seller to confirm when payment has been received if not paying by Paypal or Nochex. Once you have received the item drop an email to your seller and give them a smiley face.

Unfortunately things do happen and can go wrong - if you have a problem then please email us and we will help - if you are a seller and you have a situation (family or otherwise) do not hesitate to email us and we can help - it is best to inform us as soon as possible as long as we know all the details we can help.

Paying for items on BootBay - there are a lot of questions in regard to this - there is no right or wrong way just the easiest way for you and your buyer/seller. Paypal is only suggested by BootBay as it keeps the history of transactions but it is totally your call how you pay or accept payments. We have recently looked into Bank Transfers as an easier way - it is very simple and takes up to 3 days to clear.

We are now accepting this method of payment for paying us, as this will be quicker and easier for all - especially if paying for a WANTED or an extra Pitch etc. Please refer to the information page for Bank Details, they will also be displayed on the e.invoice that is sent to you. You do not have to have internet banking - you can also pay at the bank - just give your bank our details and they will do the transfer for you. This is obviously quicker then sending a cheque and waiting for it to clear, again though this is totally up to you.

Postage is still an issue with lots of Booters, our ethic here at BootBay is keep it low - as in the spirit of a virtual BootFair! There is a postage guide link on the forum and on the Info page, we are delighted to see that many are keeping to cost which is really nice to see.

Also as an idea when posting your items out it maybe in your interest to ask for a receipt, this will help if that there parcel should go astray.  Another suggestion would be to write you the sender name and address on the back of the parcel - as this will then get returned to you if there is a problem!

When you receive a HAGGLE! try to get back to the buyer as soon as you can - this saves them hanging around wondering if you will or won't! If you refuse the price and you find that you have not sold the items you can always contact the buyer and see if they are still interested in paying their price - at least you won't have the item still hanging around!

BOBS  news 'n' views

1. I have noticed the most popular items are collectables followed by mixed items check this out by looking at such items (silver/gold) and then looking at other categories around them put on on the same date.

2. Pitches that have been on 2/3 months are still selling items as new booters sign in,

3. We have pitches selling wrapping materials which look cheap to me, even when you include p&p! also its nice to keep it on-site - "honest guv'nor not one of my pitches!"

4. those of you who live in Essex might have noticed the odd BootBay.co.uk boards staked in around the county (not that I would condone such a thing !) These boards cost about £3 each 600x200 approx. ideal for general advertising.( I think these boards contributed greatly to getting BootBay underway) Please feel free to enquire at sales@bootbay.co.uk if are interested  Also coming soon THE BOOTBAY PITCH with tee shirts, parcel labels, car stickers and carrier bags, all with the BootBay Logo proudly displayed!

Happy Booting!

JUST FOR FUN!

These are a couple of Poems/prayers  written by our very own Greenie Saint Stan:

The BootBay Prayer

Dear Lord and webmaster up above
Fill this site with warmth and love
Pray don't let gremlins spoil our fun
Please give us loads of sales for everyone

and of course it would be rude of me not to print this one as Stan put a lot of thought into it!

Prayer for PJ

Can you here me up there
O Lord and Master
I wanna thank PJ
for bringing cheer and laughter

Now I'm not saying she's an angel
as well you know
But it'd be good to bring her a smile
when her day's going slow

So when you've a minute
anytime soon
will you shine over PJ
the BootBay Loon?

and last but not least we love this one:

BOOTBAY ANTHEM!

BootBay hath cometh
Oh sellers and buyers unite
No more wind and rain
at this boot sale selling site

Now spread the word amongst you
tell young and old alike
to behold this national treasure
that is the BootBay site.

as I am sure you will agree a very talented chappy!  I hope that you liked them and that they bring a smile to your face as they did to ours!
